Case Study: Review of Petrobras Socio-environmental and Socio-economic Programs

Context:
Petrobras, one of the largest state-owned companies in Brazil and one of the leaders in the energy sector, has always played an active role in the country's socio-environmental and socioeconomic development. Its Socio-Environmental and Socio-Economic programmes, which together contribute more than R$ 2.5 billion every five years, are a testament to its commitment to sustainability and social development. However, with evolving needs and the social landscape, a need was felt to review and integrate these programs to maximize their impact. Neo Axia, with its vast experience and reputation, was Petrobras' choice to lead this process.

Challenge:
The task was not only to review, but also to integrate two massive programs, considering both Petrobras' internal perspectives and those of several external stakeholders. With a significant budget at stake and a wide range of projects under its umbrella, the review required a meticulous and participatory approach.

Neo Axia’s Operations:

Internal and External Engagement: Neo Axia organized and conducted several meetings with internal areas of Petrobras, ensuring that the corporate vision and mission were aligned with the program's proposals. In addition, consultations were carried out with more than 70 external experts and entities historically supported by the company, collecting a wide range of insights and feedback.
  2. Analysis and Integration: With all the information collected, Neo Axia analyzed both programs, identifying areas of overlap, gaps and opportunities. The result was a proposal for an integrated program, which combined the best of both worlds, socio-environmental and socioeconomic.
  3. Structure Redefinition: Based on the analysis, Neo Axia helped Petrobras redefine the structure of the programs, ensuring that resources were allocated in a more efficient and impactful way.
  4. Deployment and Monitoring: After the planning and structuring phase, Neo Axia also assisted in the implementation phase, ensuring that the transition to the new structure was smooth and effective. Continuous monitoring mechanisms have also been established to assess impact and make adjustments as necessary.

Results and Impact:
The collaboration between Petrobras and Neo Axia resulted in the revitalization and integration of large-scale programs. With a renewed focus and a more efficient structure, Petrobras was able to direct its significant resources more strategically, expanding its impact on the communities it serves and reaffirming its commitment to the country's sustainable development.
